The Empyrean is manufactured in Romania and designed by Meze's European team. To create their ideal headphone, they invested significantly more development time than typical headphones require. Every aspect—from internal components to external form—was meticulously crafted in terms of shape and material selection. The goal was to achieve perfection in sound quality, wearing comfort, and aesthetics.

Innovative Driver Developed in Collaboration with a Renowned Manufacturer
To make the Empyrean truly unique, Meze partnered with Rinaro, a leader with over 30 years of experience in planar magnetic driver technology. Together, they developed the world’s first hybrid-architecture planar magnetic driver, the MZ3. This driver utilizes two distinct diaphragm structures: a concentric circle pattern near the ear canal for mid-high frequencies, and an isodynamic pattern for mid-low frequencies. This combination delivers a balanced sound signature. The magnet array has also been optimized for the diaphragm, resulting in higher sensitivity.

Exquisite Detail and Powerful Performance
Thanks to its hybrid driver architecture, the Empyrean offers exceptional analytical capability, revealing every nuance of the music. With an expansive sound surface area of 4,650 mm², it delivers unique dynamic power—robust yet controlled, with deep and well-defined bass, transparent vocals, and a spacious soundstage enhanced by its semi-open earcup design.

Unmatched Lightweight Build in Its Class
Despite its powerful driver and exceptional acoustic performance, the Empyrean weighs only 430 grams. This achievement stems from the designers’ meticulous selection of materials. The earcups are crafted from CNC-machined pure aluminum in an oval shape, while the headband combines carbon fiber and leather for superior comfort. The result is a headphone that feels almost weightless during extended listening sessions.
