The HP-A8 features an AKM AK4399 32-bit DAC chip, an independent TCXO oscillator clock, and allows users to select upsampling algorithms (X1, X2, X4). It supports music files with a sampling resolution of up to 192kHz/32bit via USB on macOS systems, and 192kHz/24bit on Windows 7.  A unique feature is the built-in SD/SDHC card slot, allowing direct playback of music files stored on memory cards, avoiding noise interference from the computer.
The HP-A8 provides one USB, one AES/EBU, one coaxial, and two optical digital input terminals, and one unbalanced RCA analog input. Output interfaces include one digital optical/coaxial output and one unbalanced RCA analog output. Why no balanced XLR output? The manufacturer states that due to space limitations, it was impossible to include XLR connectors without making the device larger, so a design compromise was made.
Because the HP-A8 has many processing functions and adjustable parameters, the manufacturer specifically chose a clear organic EL display and provides a remote control for convenient operation.
